Question
1 of 1
The Literary Analysis (100 points)
You will create a literary analysis essay for this lesson. Your paper should analyze one of the short stories from the choices here (SEE ATTACHMENT). The basis of your analysis will be three of the foundations of a short story; one of the three must be the theme. In addition to theme, you will then choose two more areas to focus on: plot, setting, characters, conflict, point of view, language, or tone.

Important details for your paper:

You will have five paragraphs for this: Introduction
Body Paragraph 1: Element 1 – THEME
Body Paragraph 2: Element 2 – Your Choice
Body Paragraph 3: Element 3 – Your Choice
Conclusion
Note – Keep in mind you want about 5-7 sentences for your introduction and conclusion, and about 7-10 sentences for each of your body paragraphs.

You will need a strong thesis for this paper. You will want to include the title of your short story, the author, as well as the three literary elements you will be focusing on. The thesis is the last sentence in your introductory paragraph. Need help writing a thesis? Check out these links:

Within your paper, you must include at least five quotes from your short story. You may place these anywhere you like, but you must have at least one quote in each of your body paragraphs. Remember, these quotes are there to support your ideas – keep them at an effective length, don?t make the quotes too long or they will take away from your writing.
This entire paper should be in third person: he, she, it, and they. Do not use I, you, we, us, our, me, mine, and so on.
Don?t summarize the story – focus on analyzing. I have read all the stories and am very familiar with them. Your task is to show how these elements add to your story.
