Problem identification summary (500-750 words); and Reflection (500 words).

Problem identification summary
This is a summary so it should be a high level overview identifying the major issues. Assignment 3 requires you to build on this and provide more detail on the problem and identify solutions.
For the problem identification summary the following structure can be used as a guide:

1. What is the problem?:
• Definition of the topic area (e.g.: HR Management ? performance management/appraisal etc)
• Provide an overview of the issue (e.g.: quality of people’s work)
• Develop a specific problem statement

2. Why is it a problem/ issue? (Problem analysis):
• What is the significance of the issue from a management perspective? What are the major implications for information organisations and/or the information profession? This is where you use the literature (minimum 5 key resources) to validate the issue.

3. Annotated reference list
• Identify and list at least 5 key resources that you have identified as being relevant to the problem area. Include a brief annotation for each resource (1-2 sentences) as to their relevance to the problem area. Please note: the annotated reference list is not included in the 500-750 word count. As the annotated reference list is just 5 resources with 1-2 sentences, it should only be half (½) to one (1) page maximum.

REFLECTION AND SELF-ALLOCATION OF GRADE
Please include a short (1 page) reflection and self-allocation of grade at the end of your paper. This is where you can take time out to critically reflect upon the strengths and weaknesses of your work. If the assignment was done as a pair, the reflection should be completed individually. A breakdown of each individual’s contribution should be included – it may be a good idea to keep a diary of your meetings/discussions. The Reflective Discussion should be about 500 words. You might like to consider, but are not limited to, discussing:

? Did you sufficiently background the issue to highlight its importance and relevance for the profession?
? Was your analysis of the issue sufficient? Too much? Too broad? Too narrow?
? The overall strengths and weaknesses of the work you have done – both the presentation and the summary
? What you learnt by through developing and delivering the lightening talk and preparing the problem identification summary
? Any feedback from peers that was particular relevant

Based upon your reflective discussion, what grade do you deserve for the work? The grade you allocate should reflect what you consider to be the overall quality of the whole piece of work. You should consider the overall strengths and weaknesses of the work – your Reflective Discussion will assist you in this process. In deciding upon the final grade you may like to revisit the Assessment Dimensions proposed by Duncan Nulty and outlined earlier in this Assessment Guide. In addition, you may like to consult the Marking Criteria provided in this document. Remember to justify your grade allocation (i.e. why does your work deserve the grade you have allocated?)
