In consultation with staff and families develop a profile for each of your chosen focus children which provides some background information, including information with regard to their additional needs as appropriate. This profile (childs family and cultural background, interests, care routines, traditions, and celebrations as appropriate) may be part of the above documentation methods. For the focus child with additional needs, this information should be included in your folder, but you may choose not to include in the journal/portfolio. The methods developed is likely to reflect both the philosophy and approaches used within the centre as well as your personal philosophy eg emergent curriculum; interest based planning; developmentally appropriate practice, Early years Learning Framework or other approaches.
