1) You are to practice identifying desired results by completing Stage 1 of the UbD Template, as presented in this week’s reading assignment, for five different content area standards, learning objectives, or learning outcomes. Refer to p. 328 in the textbook for an example of a completed template.

2) Use the Key Design Elements Template provided for you in the Additional Course Resources folder located in Canyon Connect. Select a content area standard, learning objective, or learning outcome and list it in Box labeled “Established Goals” of the template. Then, list the essential questions and desired understandings in the boxes labeled with the words “understanding” and “essential questions.” Finally, identify the key knowledge and skills your students will acquire as a result of this unit in the box labeled with the words “knowledge and skills.”

3) Repeat this process for four other standards from your content area, for a total of five completed UbD (Key Design Element) templates.

4) APA format is not required, but solid academic writingis expected.

Assignment 2:
Six Facets of Understanding

1) Create a chart/matrix that identifies and describes the Six Facets of Understanding. Brainstorm at least three activities for each facet. Activities must be appropriate for grades 10-12.

2) Create two lesson plans in your content area. Use a total of six activities (three activities in each), representing the six facets of understanding.

3) Use the EEI lesson plan template provided for you in the Student Success Center, College of Education.

4) Write a summative assessment for each of the lesson plans you created. The assessments should include a variety of questions (i.e., multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, etc.).

5) APA format is not required, but solid academic writingis expected.
