Format:
The layout for this report should be the standard format. However, there are no hard and fast rules for the different sections, as long as they are appropriate to the method used and enable you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the topic and research process.
However, while there is flexibility some things must be included.
1. Abstract
This should be a succinct precis of the report (not included in final word count!)
2. Introduction
The topic area, theoretical orientation and method to be used need to be introduced here in a coherent and cogent manner. It will reference the appropriate research literature for the topic, and also the method. The end of the introduction will also include clearly stated aims.
3. Method
The method needs to clearly outline how the study was conducted. You will need to describe how materials were developed, for example any interview schedules you use; how participants were approached, and details about them; you will also need to outline the procedure followed and give details of how the analysis was conducted.
What is required for a methods section should already be known to you, but here how you organise the method is up to you. It should make sense of your study and be coherent with all the relevant information so that decisions about how the study was conducted are evident. Sampling and research ethics are also important in the method, so you will need to address those. You might like to follow the format in a published study, or that of a journal.
Analysis/Discussion
Here is the main section where you present your results. How this is done depends partly upon the method of analysis that yu have used. However, it will contain a clear commentary on the findings highlighted from your participants, and how that relates to and helps understand the research literature.
This section might also include a reflexive analysis, and will end with a conclusion that states the main findings.
Other sections
It is essential that References and Appendices are included. Appendices will include a copy of the final interview transcript.

To carry out a range of quantitative and qualitative analyses appropriate to their professional practice Reports need to successfully meet these outcomes, and will do so by addressing key issues throughout the write up. Outcomes 1 and 4 are most obviously addressed in the Introduction and Discussion; while 2 and 5 are focused on the Method and Analysis.
