According to Alexander (2006) and Shulman (1986, 1987), during the evaluation phase instructors use some sort of formal check to find out if and how much knowledge learners have acquired. The formal check, whether it be a traditional teacher-made paper-pencil test, an oral presentation, a project, or a part of a portfolio, is always based on the originally selected goals and objectives. The Evaluation component of Shulman’s Model of Pedagogical Reasoning is the focus of this assignment. To begin, review this entire document and write a description of your evaluation plan by addressing the following questions:
1. What is your overall evaluation plan?
2. How is your evaluation plan based on your intended goals and objectives?
3. Does your evaluation plan address your goals and objectives at the level of complexity you identified (Bloom’s Taxonomy)?
4. What type of instrument (test, survey, et cetera) will you use?
5. How will you assign grades to your learners?
You will be evaluated on how well you can demonstrate your understanding of the ideas presented in Shulman’s model, the readings, the discussions, and any outside investigations you make. You will also be evaluated on the quality of your work: its academic rigor, how well it shows your critical thinking about ideas, how completely it covers the requirements, and how accurately you follow the formatting and referencing guidelines of the APA. Consider five or fewer pages of text to be an acceptable length for your assignment.
Note: Your instructor may also use the APA Writing Feedback Rubric to provide additional feedback on your academic writing. The writing feedback rubric does not affect your assignment grade, but its feedback may factor into the grading criteria, if professional communication and writing is a course competency. Evaluate your own work using this rubric. Refer to the Learner Guide for instructions on viewing instructor feedback.
Review your Model of Pedagogical Reasoning Project Description and Scoring Guide to understand this component in context of your course project. Read the Model of Pedagogical Reasoning Course Project Overview for complete course project instructions, and read the Component 4 ? Evaluation Scoring Guide to be sure you have met all of the evaluation criteria for this assignment.
Submit your Component 4 ? Evaluation document in the assignments area.
