I have to write a short story for my final and it has to be great. My whole grade is depending on this story. This story has to be in present tense, first person singular, no abstractions, no metaphors, no cliches and keep the story present tense. I started writing my story but i need help for the middle of the story. I have the beginning and the end but no Middle. My teacher said she liked the beginning and the end of the story i just need something strong for the middle.
The way this story is set is that I am 6 years old and I am witnessing my goat being butchered by my family. while my goat is being butchered the blood went all over my new dress that my mother got me for the first time ever.
so the story stars like this:
“Grandma ties my goat with a rope and daddy hangs the goat on a tree. Grandpa takes the machete and warm goat blood goes all over my face, my new dress and shoes. I loved that dress because it was the only dress i ever got from my mother and that’s the only dress she can afford, but now its ruin with goat blood. I run to mommy and she panics. Mommy grabs me and ask if I was hurt.” This is where i’m stuck. I don’t know what else to write because my professor is weird she likes a story with a twist weird twist. so i need help with the middle but I want the ending to be like this.
“Daddy grabs a pot and put the goats blood in it while grandma fixes the fire. Daddy fried the blood with salt and spicy pepper while grandma cleans the goats head with lemon and vinegar for soup, and use the rest of the goat for roasting. After my goat was cooked, grandma called the whole family in the yard for dinner. Grandma takes the knife, everybody grabs a plate and eat till they are full. Uncle takes his guitar and we sing. I loved my goat but he taste good.” this is the twist i want. maybe in the middle we can talk about how i loved my goat and taking care of it. we can also add how bad and smelly the taste of the blood was in my mouth. use your imagination. but the ending i like it the way it is but if you feel like changing it a little feel free to do so. just one page.
