Assessment 1: Poster Style ( SEE the 3 examples)
The Topic: Regulation of equal employment opportunities.
Your task: Use employment relations theory to explain the issue(s) that can be used to analyse that topic.
Presentation words: A one-page poster consisting of up to 600 words, excluding references You should use some pictures.The second page for references.
References: Minimum of five articles from quality academic books/journals, New dates from 2000 .
Essential elements of this assignment include:
• Identification and discussion of key matters raised in the topic.
• A critical evaluation of the employment relations literature on this topic, including identification of the different approaches which may be taken by different writers on this issue. In particular the ways in which they differ and what may or may not be useful in their approaches for an employment relations.
• Presentation of a framework that can be used to compare the topic across different countries. This framework should logically flow from the earlier discussion.
Hints: In the poster you are required to provide a brief description of the employment relations concepts and matters used to explain that topic.
This assessment is designed for you to demonstrate your ability to: firstly, research employment relation(s); secondly, identify and describe appropriate theoretical employment relation(s) concepts studied in this course and apply these concepts to the specific item you have chosen.
Poster Assessment Criteria:
Introduction and the scoping of the question (maximum 3 marks)
– Clear description of the employment relations matter
– Introduction of relevant theoretical concepts.
– A definition of the concepts.
Substantive content (maximum 7 marks)
– Breadth of the discussion.
– Accuracy of information/discussion provided.
– Demonstrated relevance of theoretical information/discussion.
Quality of argument (maximum 8 marks)
– Clear written expression.
– Development of a logical and well-structured critical discussion that directly examines and evaluates the employment relations matter and theoretical framework adopted.
– Critical analysis of competing ideas.
Conclusion (maximum 2 marks)
– Effective summing up your argument(s).
