Devise an intervention plan how you would engage in specific teaching activities designed to meet the identified learning need
This is an involved assignment. I have included a lot of information for this one. You can use a make believe student and learning need.
You must look at the uploaded files for the instructions for the assignment as these are the guiding notes. I will also attach the readings you need. If you need to access my student website I will send this information via a message to you, as this will certainly make it easier. I have added a list of portfolio pieces that are a guide to what sort of information should be referenced. Again it will be easier to access via my student portal.USE PEER REVIEWED SCHOLARLY JOURNALS, NOT WEBSITES THAT LACK CREDIBILITY. The task:
You are required to identify a primary school child with a specific learning need in an aspect of either literacy or numeracy. You will initially approach the child’s teacher, discussing the learning need, looking at work samples (if it is acceptable to the teacher), and finding out as much as you can about the child’s deficit.
You will then work with the student, conducting at least two (2) diagnostic sessions to assess the learning need, aiming to identify/clarify the learning issue (using the Australian Curriculum to guide you). You will need to include evidence of the learning issue (in the Appendix): for example work samples from the teacher; diagnostic tasks from the sessions with the student.
After completing the diagnostic sessions, you will then devise an intervention plan describing how you would engage in specific teaching activities designed to meet the identified learning need.
You will then compile a Report of your intervention, with the following elements:
1. A profile of the student – age, gender and pseudonym, together with relevant background information and any characteristics or circumstances relevant to the child’s learning need.
2. An account of the process of identifying the learning need, and a description of the learning difficulty.
3. An account of what happened in the 2 (or more) sessions with your child.
4. Your Intervention Plan for achieving the improvement with the child: A description of your 4 lessons, each being half an hour in duration, addressing the learning issue identified in the meeting with the student. (Please note, you do not need to implement the lessons, you just need to devise the program). You must offer reasons/suggestions for your choice of activities and include specific assessment types to gauge the progress of your student. This would need to include both formative and summative assessment types, and there must be reference to the terminology in your report. You also need to make strong links to the Australian Curriculum to provide evidence for the diagnosis and the levels the student should be working at for their literacy/numeracy issue. Remember: in academic writing you must justify your ideas by discussing theory from your weekly readings and your own research, and you must give references to back up your assertions.
5. Your recommendations for the child’s future learning.
The work should be 2000 words in length, and appendices (eg diagnostic tasks, work samples) should be provided as evidence of the various activities undertaken in each step of the process. Appendices are not included in the word count.

Australian Curriculum
• Examine the structure and content of the new Australian Curriculum as a source of pointers for the intervention. Choose the Maths or English Learning Area.
To access the curriculum documents, you will need to visit the ACARA website: http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/
You will need to make reference to the AC for assignment 2, so please spend some time becoming familiar with the materials.
