Too often families are educated on what to expect and how to adjust to the survivor’s needs but the families unidentified losses tend to be overlooked. The goal of this study is to explore the effectiveness of interventions used with families following a medical trauma. The study hopes to demonstrate through each families experience what may be lacking in the interventions provided and how professionals can create programs that will address all aspects of loss from a medical trauma.
The theoretical lens I want to use is ambiguous loss and structural theory. This will be a qualitative project using experiential methods. The sample population will be gathered from a local rehab center.
