Paper Overview
Read the following articles (available through the UNLV Lied Library):
Building a Services Brand: Stages, People and Orientations by de
Chernatony, L., Drury, S., & Segal-Horn, S. (2003, May). Service Industries
Journal, 23(3), 1-21.
Read the article. Write a summary of the article including:
• what you learned from the article
• how it relates to the concepts discussed in class
• how you would apply the concepts as a manager in a
hotel or other hospitality environment
Please incorporate other research referencing points in the article
that intrigued you.
Paper Standards
Minimum of 4 pages and no longer than 7 pages (note that the cover page and
references do not count in the page count)
Typed double-spaced on 8 1/2 x 11-inch white paper
1-inch margins on the top, bottom, left, and right
12-point font (Arial or Times Roman)
Cover/title page with student name, student number, date, and article summary title
(please do not put graphics or clip art on cover)
Headings and, if appropriate, sub-headings used to help organize paper
Introduction with thesis sentence and a “roadmap” that lets the reader know the subject
of your paper
Conclusion that summarizes your paper and reminds the reader what your paper was
about
Citations for any ideas not the student’s own are fully and accurately cited so a third
party can easily find the original source (APA or MLA format)
