In this assignment, you will locate peer reviewed academic literature in relation to a topic of your choice. You will review some of this literature and consider both 1) the findings of the articles in relation your topic and 2) the research concepts that the researchers employ and on which they base their findings. You will critically review the articles for the way they respond to your topic of choice.
This assignment consists of three parts – Part A, Part B and Part C
Part A: Reference list of TEN empirical research which relate to a topic of your
choice
Part B: Annotated Bibliography of FOUR articles in relation to a topic of your
choice (1600 words)
Part C: Critical review of the FOUR articles in relation to a topic of your choice
(1600 words)
Part A: Reference list of TEN empirical research articles (peer reviewed) which
relate to a topic of your choice
How to approach this:
1.Search the literature and select ten articles that you feel are most relevant to your
topic.
2. Compile these into a bibliography and referenced in APA.
Part B: Annotated Bibliography of FOUR empirical research articles in relation to a topic of your choice (1600 words)
How to approach this:
1.Carefully select four empirical research articles out of the ten you have referenced
which respond to your topic of choice. Include those that have been most influential and try to provide a variety of perspectives.
2.Present an introduction which does the following:
*outlines the research topic you have selected and discuss its significance (to you,
to a wider group of professionals, researchers etc)
*presents 1-3 (research) questions which are guiding your review discuss the scope of[AC1] your literature search and justify why the texts you have selected are relevant to the research topic and research questions you have
crafted
3. Write four annotated citations. For each of these four, include:
The full citation details of each articles
A 300 word annotation which is a summary and evaluation of the article. In each
annotation, you need to provide i) a brief summary of the argument made in the
article in relation to the findings, ii) discuss the approach taken to the research
(paradigms, methodology, methods and credibility and rigour) and iii) identify the
relevance of the article to your research topic.
Part C: Critical review of the FOUR articles in relation to a topic of your choice
(1600 words)
In this section, you will critically review the four articles you have annotated in Part B. This means you will develop an ARGUMENT about how these four articles helps you to address your research questions and addresses your topic.
How to approach this:
1. Look across the four articles to identify the relationships between them.
2.Identify the arguments each article makes and compare them. Show the
connections or disconnections between them.
3.As you compare them, discuss your view of the credibility and rigour of each of the
arguments, based on the research paradigms, methodologies and methods they
are based on.
4.State what you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the four articles.
5.Identify how you feel these articles help you to address your research questions
and topic.
