Read through “The Bomb Shelter Experience” and follow the directions noted in the “Situation.” After you have chosen six of the twelve survivors to begin a new civilization, list the six survivors at the top of a new document, and then write one well-written paragraph (minimum 100 words) discussing the proposed effect you perceive EACH of the six individuals will have on the new civilization. A great paragraph will reference specific skills of each of the six individuals and how those skills will contribute to what you believe is most important in rebuilding society. After you have written this paragraph, you will write a second paragraph explaining why you rejected the six individuals not chosen to start a new civilization. Again, you are going to discuss your hypothesized effect (presumably negative) that each of those left behind would have on the new civilization. DO NOT state an individual was left behind because he/she is “useless”. Not one of the individuals below is “useless”. However, given the type of civilization you envision, some individuals may not contain the necessary skills to accomplish your desired goals.
