A quote once said, “We do not learn language but we were born into it.” Throughout the informative few weeks in English class, we have tackled on various topics as a class. What I found most captivating was the origin of language and how socializing with one another is an essential part of life. It is recorded that there are approximately 5600 spoken languages in the world today. From further research and discussions, I discovered that the dissemination of language originated from the Bible, particularly the story of the Tower of Babel. Though there are various claims of the origin of language, I personally believe that since God is known as the architect of this universe, He has the capability to form languages that exist today. Moreover, I think that babies are born with language; hence they learn to speak properly as they begin to develop. By observing the communication between people around us would also contribute to our learning. When we visit a foreign country, it tends to make us feel lonely because we do not have the ability to read and speak their local language. Therefore we are gifted with the potential to learn new languages but would require more practice in order to speak fluently.
We communicate with the people around is in our everyday lives. In addition, different people have the ability to communicate in different languages such as English, Indonesian, Chinese and so forth. For example, if a person is not gifted with a language, how is it possible for people to understand what he/she is talking about? Furthermore, we communicate in a language our speaking partner understands therefore it would be unchallenging for us to communicate and expand our conversation.
