Central Idea: Today different nations are competing in purchasing the latest state of the art jet fighters, Jet fighter have become the backbone of any complete fighting army. Air superiority is the main component of a successful military campaign.
Introduction: The First World War had brought forth drastic changes to the way warfare is conducted and revolutionized the age old methods of battle, where the tried and true ancient methods became obsolete. If we go back to the ancient battlefields between the major empires throughout history, we find armies being mainly formed by the cavalry, archers and infantry. The introduction of fighter jet planes in the ww1 made the need for air superiority the main element in winning any battle. Also there is still a place for traditional army’s model, like infantry and navy, armies with weaker air forces are under a severe disadvantage. Throughout the news we hear references to wars and battles ,whether the us led invasion of Iraq ,or the offences committed by the Israeli air force on Palestinian lands ,in this speech I will get into an introduction to air attack and the different planes in the air force today. Also in recent years there has been massive investment by Arabic countries on their air force, by buying new platforms, I will delve into these different platforms.
I have always been interested in military topics since I was a kid, as I was inspired by two of my uncles who served as fighter pilots in the October war with the Egyptian army. Serving in the army was always my goal as and I was always known that I would never be committed to a 9 to 5 job in an office. This made me extremely interested in different military science and I immersed myself in military history books since young age.
Fighter aircraft in the 20th century have been separated under 2 major banners, these 2 are western and eastern systems. The western systems being the US/Western Europe made jets and the eastern planes like ones made by china and Russia.
