Here is what you have to do. You need to go to the ’30 issues in 30 days’ website at http://www.wnyc.org/30issues/ and choose ONE of the podcasts that go with issue numbers 1,2,6,8, or 9. You can listen to all of them, but the paper is only about one of them. You will listen to the podcast and pick a couple of aspects of the problem that are related to something we have discussed in this course. Then you will write a paper about the podcast, analyzing it using some of the frameworks we have discussed this semester. Some example frameworks are the PPC, AD and AS, unemployment, the national debt, taxation, etc.
The goal of this assignment is not to get you to do research; it is intended to get you to write about an economic issue in an educated way. You can draw conclusions about the policies in the podcast, but that is also not the main point of the assignment. The main point is for you to be able to think about economic issues in a systematic way using the concepts we have discussed in class, and then write about it in that framework.
