A research paper is to be constructed in Word. The paper should be 15 (double-spaced) pages long, excluding pages associated with title pages, appendices, reference pages, or bibliography. In other words the body of the paper should be 15 pages (1 inch margins – 12 pt. font – Times New Roman or Arial). The paper should be documented using the APA documentation style. Authoritative, peer reviewed journals are preferable sources for your research. The purpose of the research paper is to expose the student to international marketing subject research within the parameters of the research topic and should include further research of ideas posed in your textbook or from sources that address your chosen topic from the topic list provided by your professor on the course home page. The paper should not simply be a review of printed material. It should go further and examine marketing literature related to the topic, integrating research information from outside sources with the information discussed in your textbook. The focus should be on synthesizing and reporting the research information. Remember that what you say is not as credible as what others have said. The most important parts of a research paper are the parts that reference what others say. The larger profession brings greater credibility to your paper through referencing the work of others. However, at least 50% of this work must be in your own (original) words. Each paper should have 10 – 15 sources. At least some of these should be peer reviewed articles/papers from credible journals or conference proceedings. Today, some serious marketing issues are appearing in the forefront of the news, and sources such as the Wall Street Journal and other sources such as those found on web pages may be used. Information found on the Internet (other than journal articles) is certainly appropriate, but is not as credible and should not represent the majority of outside sources used.
