2. What ethical problem or question in relation to business do you intend to address?
For #2, the question you ask should not be specifically about your case study, but rather a more general ethical issue in business that your case study might raise, or be an example of. So, for example, when we did case study group work in class a few weeks ago, we had a case study about a woman who wanted some time off to catch up on her personal life because she had been putting in such long hours at work. One question that someone might ask in relation to that case study is: What constitutes loyalty in the employee-employer relationship?

For #3, you need to tell me, in just a sentence or two, why the reader of your essay should be interested in the question you pose in #2. Why should the reader care about what you have to say in relation to this question? Why is it important to find an answer to that question?
4. what is the thesis statement for which you will argue in your essay?
For #4, your thesis statement–which should be a single sentence–should provide your answer to the question you pose in #2. That will be the position for which you will argue in your essay.
5. with which reading(s) from the textbook do you plan to engage? Why those readings?
For #5, you are required to use one reading from the same chapter as your case study. So if you choose a case study from chapter 4, you also need to use a reading from chapter 4. If you choose a case study from chapter 12, you need to use a reading from chapter 12. You are also welcome to use other readings, including readings that we covered in class, but that one reading from the case study chapter is the minimum requirement. Also, don’t forget to provide a brief explanation (1-2 sentences) about WHY you plan to use that reading. Your reason(s) why should point to something specific in the reading that is relevant to your thesis.
