The research paper must be completed by the date indicated in the course matrix portion of the syllabus. The research paper will focus on an ethical issue that a criminal justice agency/corporation has had to deal with. Students will need to find a criminal justice agency or a major corporation that has faced this challenge. I will be looking at how the student incorporates material learned in this course into the paper. At a minimum the student will need to provide the following in the paper.
? The agency/corporation information [biographic info].
? The agency/corporation history.
? The ethical issue.
? What lead up to the ethical issue [contributing factors].
? What were the results to the agency/corporation [What happened because of the ethical issue?]
? What was the agency/corporations response [What did they do to rectify the situation?].
? Where is the agency/corporation at this time [are they still following ethical training? Are they better off from this experience?]
? How this relates to our study of ethics, and
? What would your response to this have been? (conclusion).
This paper should allow the student to see how ethical issues can be dealt with in an effective manner, not only can an ethical issues destroy, but also how it can be overcome with an appropriate response.
Please be reminded that this is a three hundred level course and I expect no less when it comes to writing abilities, research skills, and integration of course material.
The paper will be a neat, well organized document.
