Students will work with a small group, or in pairs, to prepare a brief, 20 minute presentation on three main areas of anti-discrimination legislation (Sex Discrimination Act; Race Discrimination Act and The Disability Discrimination Act) and three areas of diversity management (The Business Case, Human Resource Management and Corporate Social Responsibility). The presentation should provide a brief overview of the act and its key provisions; additionally each group should identify an organisation (such as the university, an organisation where you work or volunteer or an organisation with a detailed website and good public access such as Sainsburys). You should find out what that organisation is doing (or not doing!) to meet its legal requirements under the Act and to support and promote diversity initiatives. The presentations will be assessed on clarity of style, knowledge of the topic, ability to present it in an interesting way, balance of theory and practice.
