This class is considered as a general education CORE III class: Foundation of Western Thought. While the first two assignments gave you a topic to write about, in this assignment, you are asked to write about how the readings we have done so far speak to a contemporary issue. You can choose an issue from the news, from one of your other courses, or from something a little more historical. In this assignment, you should use two or three of the semester’s readings to reflect on the issue you have chosen. You should think about a specific audience to whom the essay can be addressed, and historically situate the readings you use, while demonstrating their contemporary relevance (or lack of it). Students will do some research on either the issue they have chosen or the text they are using. Essays will be 5-8 pages long.
