– Have there been times earlier in American history (and examples closer to the present – (think about Schor’s book) when certain children were “deprived” of a childhood? If so, why was this the case?
– How have families, communities, and society sought to protect and preserve childhood even under difficult conditions?
– Have all of the efforts to provide children with a “sheltered” childhood been good for children? Why or why not?
