15% of your grade will be based on your presentation of an author related to the course. Research an author and give the class a summary of the author’s life, but only of those details you think are most important. For example, you would want to tell us when the person was born so we know what time period he/she was writing in. But do we need to know that he/she had two sisters? Unless the author wrote about the sisters or used them for inspiration, we don’t need to know that information. Make your presentation as interesting and as creative as possible. For a poet, it might be nice to provide a poem not in our book by the poet. Make us want to know more and read more of this writer’s work. Please choose an author who lived and wrote after 1860. Authors will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. I will ask each student to post three choices in the “Discussions” section and then I will post student names and their respective authors on the home page. The presentation can be Power Point or simply a Word file. You should include links to websites and photos whenever possible.
