With this goal in mind, use the information you are learning about the variables associated with your Research Proposal to design a quasi-experimental study that contains one independent variable (IV) with at least two levels and one dependent variable (DV). In your post, describe the IV and the levels you will assign to it. Describe how many research participants you will need for your study and how they will be assigned to condition. Describe what DV you will measure and how you will measure it. Describe the threat that not having a true experimental study will have for your research and what you will do to reduce these threats. Based on what you are reading in your Research Proposal topic area, explain what you predict will happen to DV scores as a result of differences on the IV. Identify any confounding variables that you cannot control.
When designing this study, carefully consider the type of IV and DV you have chosen for your Proposal. Bear in mind that the primary IV of interest for your proposal may be conducive to experimental manipulation, which is a much preferred technique to a quasi-experimental technique; therefore, for this discussion post you may have to select a variable that is related to your IV that cannot be manipulated. Be sure the IV you choose for the post is logically related to the DV you have chosen for your Proposal. Chances are you may still be able to use the DV you selected for your Research Proposal even if you must revise your IV. Make an effort to discuss an IV and a DV in your post that is related to the information you are learning about your Research Proposal topic.
