The lesson for my third grade class was Planets and the Solar System, including Pluto.
Your lesson plan will be based on one of the following Methods :1)the Language Framework Planning, or 2)SIOP. (pick ONE of these approaches!)
Your lesson plan will also be aligned to TESOL/NCATE standards, WIDA, and state learning standards (IL).
You will implement the lesson in a general education class with a mix of ELLs and native English speakers
For each Lesson Plan there are 3 sections:
1). Lesson Plan (about 5 pages)
Use one of the 2 methods described above : SIOP or Language Framework Planning
2.Documentation
I will take care of this section. I will upload all required documentation supporting the lesson implementation. This includes digital photographs, audio files and video files, as well as scanned student work. (The students created posters of fun facts about the different planets.)
3. Reflection (2 pages)
Write a reflection on the effectiveness of the lesson including what went well, what could be changed, how the lesson adhered to the principles of the selected method, and how the lesson aided learning and growth of both language and content.
The reflection should also discuss how your lesson is aligned to both content and ESL standards.
Be sure to look at rubric for other areas that need to be addressed such as collaboration with other teachers.
To do a thorough job, the reflection should be approximately 2 pages.
