understanding of some of its foundational concepts. Scholars include rhetoricians such as I.A.
Richards, Ernesto Grassi, Richard Weaver, Kenneth Burke, Althusser, Bell Hooks, and Foucault.This
new understanding is required given the unique nature of their contemporary moment. World War
II and the rise of Hitler, postmodernism, the rise of multiculturalism, and postcolonial relations are a
few of the reasons cited for interventions in the canon. I want you to make a similar account. What
would you say is the key event, issue, or school of thought that informs our modern era? (Once
you have answered this question let it sit at the back of your mind as you consider the remaining
sections.)
