– You need to find two articles or case studies (outcome of a policy or a real economic issue). The best source of finding articles is Journal articles, News and Newspapers such as Economist, The Australian, The wall street Journal, The New York Times.
2- For each article/news you need to raise some questions and answer them. The format of this assignment for each set of questions should be the following:
Section 1: Article/News
Section 2: Questions based on article
Section 3: Answers. You need to use the model and economic theories that we learn in this class to discuss and answer your questions. You should approach issue from analytical perspective: present evidence, cite literature, and explain economic trade-offs. I look for the followings when I mark your assignments: your ability to motivate your questions using economic logic; your ability to critically analyse the past literature; and your ability to use data/ empirical studies to support your idea.
Section 4: References. This part includes detail of article/news that you study as well as other references that you use.
3- We are going to discuss three main topics in the class: short-run, medium-run and long-run macroeconomic. Questions should be related to topics that we discuss during this semester. I encourage you to select one article that is related to short-run or medium-run macroeconomics and choose another article that is related to long-run.
4- You can submit two sets of questions and answers separately any time during semester between week 6 and week 10. For instance, you can submit the first article (as well as questions and answers) related to the short-run or medium-run macroeconomics on week 6 and the second article related to long-run macroeconomics on week 10. But the last date of submission is 4 pm 17th of May 2013.
