Within the healthcare arena, Privacy and Security Officers should conduct walkthroughs of the facility. As a new Privacy Officer for YXZ Hospital, you have decided to partner up with the Security Officer to do weekly rounds of the hospital. You realize, that you are going to need a checklist to ensure areas are in compliance with policy.
Using the format below, create a checklist that will identify compliance with local policies as well as federal and state laws. Your list should only comprise of items that you would check for while ?walking through? your facility. Write the questions so that a ?Yes? indicates the expected behavior is being followed. In addition to the two questions listed, you need to create an additional 10 questions.

Upon completion of the checklist, create a memorandum to be released to all employees discussing the new compliance checklist to be used during walkthroughs. Your memorandum should state, at a minimum, the following:
? When rounds will be conducted, whether random or planned
? Who will be expected to accompany the Privacy and Security Officer, i.e. the Nurse Manager, Floor Manager, Supervisor, etc.
? What the requirement is for deficient issues
? Where they can find a copy of the checklist
