You will do a research project on a local law enforcement agency to include the following information:
• History of the organization
• Mission statement, vision, values and goals for the organization
• Qualifications, requirements and process of becoming a police officer in that agency
• Volunteer opportunities or Citizen’s Police Academy
• Types of information that is available to citizen’s regarding community efforts, crime control or crime statistics
This project should be typewritten in 12- font, double-spaced and should not be a listing of information but rather written in a manner in which you are explaining every aspect of the information in paragraph format. Margins should not be any larger than 1” on each page. A cover page is required and the first page of your paper should have the 1” margin. The paper should be submitted to me personally during class on the day that it is due. I will not accept any submissions by email and there are no exceptions.
Your grade will be based on the following criteria:
• Grammar, spelling and writing proficiency
• If you have not followed the instructions indicated above, there will be points deducted from your grade.
• Content and thoroughness
• Any information should be cited in appropriate APA style.
• No “cut and pasting” will be allowed and your grade will be reflected in a negative manner.
• The project should be at least 5-7 pages considering the amount of information that is available.
• If you turn your project in late, 10 points will be deducted for each day that it is late.
