This is a very touchy subject for me. I have a military background with the US Marines, I am a Desert Shield/ Storm veteran and immediately after being honorably discharged I continued to battle the enemy, but now as a law enforcement officer. In both categories I battle enemies both foreign and domestic.
I consider myself already at war and with drugs and gangs. Having ideological theory and method of why I am war strictly comes from being heuristic, I guess doing the right thing.
The values that were instilled in me from my parents and what was ingrained me by the US Marines have given me the strength in believing we must fight for what is right and what has been designated to each one of us through the constitution and humanity.
I guess it is simple to say, I will fight for you and your family’s right to be safe and free. I know I speak more on a domestic challenge of war because it is empirical because of the unknown risk that may be challenged with. I have included a short video link that will allow each of you to see why I chose to be a law enforcement officer and why I am already at war, it will also clarify the challenges I see.
To me war is defined where there is us against them and there are casualties for the reasons we are at war. Just recently, I lost two California Highway Patrol brothers, over my 21 years I have seen too much evil where people have lost their lives whether it be in another country or in our own back yard. I ask myself why I still fight the fight knowing I may not come home at the end of my shift. I quietly whisper to myself “the thin blue line”. I strongly recommend that each of you ask a seasoned law enforcement officer what it means and what it stands for.
