c) A situation that requires advice and recommendations within your
position paper to manage organisational change using an organisation
development process/interventions.
d) A situation that requires advice and recommendations within your
position paper to implement methods for processes to enhance the
sharing of organisationally based knowledge and learning.
The selected scenario should then be applied to either (a), (b) or (c):
a) An organisation of your choice with which you are familiar or one
where you have been employed
b) An organisation of your choice selected from the organisation’s
website and other company related sources (both electronic and non-
electronic)
c) An organisation of your choice selected from a case study found in OD
or MD textbooks.
Having made your choices you are then required to address points (a)
through (d):
a) Critically analyse the literature (theory and practice) to map the
topic’s terrain.
b) Assess the implications of the topic for the appropriate aspects of
your chosen case organisation through an exploration of the issues
surrounding the scenario.
c) Assess the skills required of someone acting as a ‘change agent’ in
the chosen scenario in terms of what is needed to make the
improvements/changes happen and to implement any of the
identified intervention(s) or processes successfully.
d) Evaluate key recommendations for taking action on your proposals.

Assignment Objectives
• To develop skills and knowledge of consultancy, coaching and being a
change agent
• To integrate the varying perspectives on leadership, management and
organisation development to enhance individual and organisational
performance.
• To demonstrate an understanding an application of the value of
conflict for organisational performance.
• To critically review and develop personal viewpoints based on theory,
practice and experience.
Assessment Criteria
Tutors will apply the following assessment criteria that are developed more
fully in the assessment grid included.
• The ability to communicate effectively through the vehicle of a
written paper produced in accordance with the learning objectives
and assessment criteria produced.
• Use the APA referencing system to accurately reference any
literature sources used to inform the paper and to compile the
related list of references. The reference list does not count in the
total word limit.
• Demonstrate understanding of relevant theory, supply evidence of
appropriate supplementary reading,
• Demonstrate ability to apply your knowledge to the question posed,
to articulate and justify through adequate analysis personal views and
attitudes to the topic.
The general University criteria also apply. More specifically:
• The introduction should indicate the direction of the
debate/perspectives to be used.
• The main body will develop the arguments appropriate to the
particular question, reviewing models or interventions, styles, values
in the light of your definitions and context. Case or practical
examples should be used to illustrate your points.
• The conclusions will draw together the threads of the main points you
wish to leave with the reader. 10% of the overall mark will be
considered for presentational issues e.g. structure, style, logic,
sentence construction, APA referencing.
