Local physicians may assess the health needs of each patient. In population health, however, the scope is much broaderfor health care providers. They must assess the needs of the entire community. As health care providers andadministrators, it is important to understand the difference between individual and population needs and the impact eachhas on health care services, policies, and initiatives (Wright & Wilkinson, 1998).Throughout the past couple of weeks, you have been examining how social and economic determinants impactpopulation health. This week, you explore the role of these determinants in assessing a communitys needs.
