In this assignment you are encouraged to engage with materials of particular interest to yourself, using the critical methods you have learned in class (abjection, monstrosity, animality) to bring a new perspective to your relationship with a popular culture text.

3) Refer to “Final Paper (Outline)(with feedback)” for outline of the paper.

4) DO NOT need to summarize movie. Write as if readers have already watched it.

5) Use the scenes mentioned in the outline unless you have a better one.

**6) Use the theories of abjection, monstrosity and animality put forward by the two articles to analysis the scenes and draw a new insight about the film

– I have highlighted some key ideas in the article by Civitarese on abjection. Feel free to use them.

– “Animality” is basically asking what is the significance and the representation of animals or tuning humans into animals in the film. Animality is where animal and human boundary slips; can be abject or monstrosity. Animality is not really discussed about the articles, so please just critically analyze that.

– “Monstrosity” is showing; being a spectacle, display

– “Abjection” is repressed; pushed aside and hidden from society
