Early childhood is the time when children begin to learn about the distinguishing features of their culture Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

They learn the songs, myths, and folktales, as well as the values and customs that have carried their culture from one generation to the next.

For this assignment select a particular culture to explore through a folktale, myth, song, or story that comes from that culture. I encourage you to work with a culture other than your own, in order to expand your awareness of cross-cultural development. You will be identifying some cultural values that are transmitted to young children through stories, while applying some of the concepts we?re learning about cognitive development.

Some suggested sources to use for your folktales include The Hungry Tigress and Other Traditional Asian Tales, by Rafe Martin (1984), Spider Woman?s Granddaughters, by Paula Gunn Allen (1989), or The Crest and the Hide and Other African Stories, by Harold Courlander (1982).

In your paper you should identify the source, author, and title of the story, along with a brief summary of the tale. Then describe the cultural value(s) and show how the story illustrates this value. For this you will need to do some background research on the culture you have selected (use scholarly sources and document them properly).

In the final part of your paper you will apply some of the concepts of cognitive development (e.g. egocentrism, animism, magical thinking?) by discussing how a preoperational child is likely to view the tale. Be sure to show how the story illustrates some of these concepts.

Law vs. Ethics Business Law Assignments Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

The relationship between law and ethics has been subject to much discussion over time. Is there a common standard? Is one “stricter” than the other? In a well-written, cohesive essay, explore the relationship of law and ethics. As you do so, identify and discuss specific examples to illustrate each of the following:
*Law and ethics overlap in purpose and/or form (i.e., the law tends to enforce ethical standards or is parallel to societal ethics)
*Law is ethically neutral (i.e., law has no ethical purpose or content)
*Because law is developed through compromise, the law may actually be unethical (i.e. the purpose or effect of the law may be unethical)
Develop a response that includes examples and evidence to support your ideas, and which clearly communicates the required message to your audience. Organize your response in a clear and logical manner as appropriate for the genre of writing. Use well-structured sentences, audience-appropriate language, and correct conventions of standard American English.

-How would the presenting problem be conceptualized from this perspective?
-What would be some examples of interventions from this perspective for this couple?
-Describe the role of the counselor from this perspective?

Case study:

David and Martha, a Hispanic couple in their mid thirties who recently immigrated to the united states, sought out treatment to discuss issues and concerns pertaining to reunification with their 13 year old son. Up until 2 years ago, the couple and their 3 children resided in a cult. While in the cult system, the couple reportedly signed over custody of their oldest son to his grandparents, due to the son being labeled as “deviant” in the cult society. However, while the son was in the custody of the grandparents, his uncle sexually abused him. Since then, the son has been placed in 7 foster homes and has been labeled by the foster care system as “defiant” and “disruptive”.

A History of Catholics in America Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

PROMPT:
In James T. Fisher’s Communion of Immigrants, the author provides a general sweep of the history of Catholicism in the United States. An underlying idea throughout the work is the distinctiveness of American Catholicism rooted in the challenges presented by American republicanism (p. 25) and the diversity brought about by the immigrant character of the American Catholic Church coupled with a hierarchical church, particularly its central authority, the Pope. These same challenges are the source of American Catholicism’s contribution to the universal Catholic Church.

THINGS TO CONSIDER. These are questions that can help you clarify the important elements of your essay. They are not to be answered point by point per se in the essay itself. The essay should be a coherent argument that unpacks the prompt. The prompt functions like a thesis of the essay.
1. Briefly consider the history of the growth of the American Catholic Church and the diverse challenges experienced by the different waves of Catholic immigrants. How did the immigrant experience affect the understanding of religious liberty?
2. How did the immigrant experience affect the understanding If the intersection of religious identity and of ethnic identity?
3. How was being a Catholic immigrant an advantage and a challenge?
4. Why was being able to simultaneously hold Catholic and American identity seen as problematic?
5. How did/does the distinctive experience of American Catholicism enable American Catholics to contribute to the universal Catholic Church’s understanding of religious liberty?
