To this end, you will be working on different components of a project that has been designed to help you apply what you are learning about emerging markets in a real-world context.
You will complete this project in two submissions. In each submission you will develop certain sections of your overall proposal. Your project will be based on the following scenario:
You are currently the owner of a successful, mid-size import/export business based in an emerging market. Because of the nature of your business, you have developed strong relationships with a number of business leaders in several more developed nations. Someone within your country has approached you with an idea for producing and selling a product targeted at your nation’s poor. (Note: you will have the opportunity to select the product for this project and this product must leverage the notion of “frugal innovation” which you read about this week.) This idea is particularly exciting to you because you see that it provides the possibility to combine both business innovation and social opportunity—something that will help you realise your life’s passion.
By producing this product, you can help meet a critical need of those who are in the Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) market in your country. Accomplishing this “mission” is something you have long wanted to do; however, to launch this venture successfully you have decided that you need to form a partnership with a for-profit business in a more developed market. You are hopeful that among your network of business leaders, you will be able to attract partners.
Your task now is to create a proposal to excite them about the product, get them engaged and attract their support—essentially to make the case as to the benefits of partnering with you on the project.

For this assignment, you may select any emerging market for use in the scenario, except for either a BRIC nation or the country where you currently reside. Using your own experience as well as the knowledge that you have gained through the learning materials and assignments in this module,
you will prepare a presentation in which you address the key areas of the proposed venture. You will complete this project in two submissions. In each submission you will develop certain sections of your overall proposal. Your final proposal should include the following sections:

This will be a concise outline of your business purpose and both short- and long-term goals. Be sure to convey the passion for the project and your deep level of commitment. Effectively lay out why this is a saleable product and how it also achieves a social mission. Remember the product that you select for this project must leverage the notion of “frugal innovation.”
This is the first section a potential partner would read so you will want to quickly convince them they want to be involved. You will want to convey your excitement and passion for this project and the potential impact it could have on the target population. Basically, you want to create a shared vision.
