Psychopath or not: Are suicide bombers crazy? Do you think their way of thinking is rational? Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

At first, the answer anyone would give seems obvious: they must be crazy and have irrational thoughts to blow themselves up and kill innocent people in the process. However, terrorism experts have proposed several rational motives for their actions. Some political scientists believe that terrorists make a tactical choice to use suicide bombings against a stronger enemy. Other experts argue that suicide terrorism is part of a cycle of humiliation fueled by a suicide bombers desire to strike back at those who have mistreated or shamed them. Some psychologists have concluded that suicide bombers are ordinary, everyday people who are unlikely to commit violent acts until they identify with and join a terrorist group which manipulates and pressures them to commit these violent acts

Article Critique: What is the author’s main point? – What is the origin of your reaction to this topic? When or where did you first learn about it? Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

? What is the author’s main point?
? What is the author’s purpose?
? Who is the author’s intended audience?
? What arguments does the author use to support the main point?
? What evidence does the author present to support the arguments?
? What are the author’s underlying assumptions or biases?

Step 2. Evaluate the text
After you have read the article, you can begin to evaluate the author’s ideas. The following questions provide some ideas to help you evaluate the text:

? Is the argument logical?
? Is the text well-organized, clear, and easy to read?
? Are the author’s facts accurate?
? Have important terms been clearly defined?
? Is there sufficient evidence for the arguments?
? Do the arguments support the main point?
? Is the text appropriate for the intended audience?
? Does the text present and refute opposing points of view?
? Does the text help you understand the subject?
? Are there any words or sentences that evoke a strong response from you? What are those words or sentences? What is your reaction?
? What is the origin of your reaction to this topic? When or where did you first learn about it? Can you think of people, articles, or discussions that have influenced your views? How might these be compared or contrasted to this text?
? What questions or observations does this article suggest? That is, what does the article make you think about?

Step 3. Plan and write your critique

Write your critique in standard essay form. It is generally best not to follow the author’s organization when organizing your analysis, since this approach lends itself to summary rather than analysis.

Begin with an introduction that defines the subject of your critique and your point of view.

Defend your point of view by raising specific issues or aspects of the argument.

Conclude your critique by summarizing your argument and re-emphasizing your opinion.
? You will first need to identify and explain the author’s ideas. Include specific passages that support your description of the author’s point of view.
? Offer your own opinion. Explain what you think about the argument. Describe several points with which you agree or disagree.
? For each of the points you mention, include specific passages from the text (you may summarize, quote, or paraphrase) that provide evidence for your point of view.
? Explain how the passages support your opinion.

“Public Diplomatic” efforts to reunite cyprus Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This paper will be talking about "Public Diplomatic" efforts to reunite cyprus, or at least reach to a settlement for the problem. Before going deeper, please allow me to explain what do i mean with Public Diplomacy is in a simple non-scientific language. Its practically having talks and actions on the public level (not political or official) about a dispute between two or more people, that points out to a ‘soft solution’ .

Ongoing efforts by UN and other European countries to find a solution for the island have failed so far. Five plans were proposed by Kofi Atta Annan the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, every plan failed to get the acceptance of both sides for a different reason. However, the Cypriot people have suffered and have been suffering for so long. The Turkish side is stuck in "inhuman embargo" as it is not recognized in any aspect (education, health, sports, trade…etc), and the Greek side is going through terrible economic crisis. This is just the shallow level of the suffering, and more to be revealed.

However, some actions have been taking place between the two sides, such as crossing over the borders more often, buying homes, and investing on ‘the other side’, talks of possible ‘big business’ "again" in north..etc.

This paper will try its best to find a way of communication and common grounds between Greek and Turk Cypriot original citizens , that would separate them from the other intervening countries such as Greece and Turkey.
A possibility of opening up, and finding a ‘soft solution’ on the public level , that may exert a force on political- official level.

This paper will face some limitations that I thought of putting on ground from now:
– I cannot read neither Turkish nor Greek to study the media of both sides and both supporting countries.
– border surveillance may be a good way of knowing what is the traffic between both sides, but I am not sure if this is possible.
– As the subject is talking about public level actions, some actions may be not clear for outside observer.
