Drawing on academic research and evidence from practice, critically examine the current state of employee reward practice in different countries and assess if employee reward discrimination occurs across countries & sectors based on gender, race & nationality. Also highlight the implications and significance of your findings to your understanding of the management of international reward in organisations.
You may answer this question in relation to the UK or to any other country with which you are sufficiently familiar.
The paper should be around 3,000 words (+/- 10%) in length plus references and any appendices.
This assignment must be submitted, with a BES coursework cover sheet attached, to William Morris by 16.00 on or before the above deadline.
Please note:
1. All work submitted after the submission deadline without an approved valid reason (see below) will be given a mark of zero. (This is not the same as a non-submission, as a late submission counts as an attempt and a mark of zero may allow you to resit the coursework.).
2. Short deferrals (extensions) of up to three calendar weeks can only be given for genuine "force majeure" and medical reasons, not for bad planning of your time. Please note that theft, loss, or failure to keep a back-up file, are not valid reasons. The short deferral must be applied for on or before the submission date. You can apply for a short deferral by submitting an Examination/ Coursework Deferral Application Form. Application Forms along with the supporting evidence should go to the Postgraduate Reception (WMG29). For a longer delay in submission a student may apply for a (long) deferral.
3. Students MUST keep a copy and/or an electronic file of their assignment.
Coursework Submission
Students are required to attempt all assessed aspects of their course at the first opportunity. If you don’t, and you do not have a valid deferral, you will not be allowed a re-sit. Any student who submits a first piece of work late, without an authorised extension (or deferral) will receive a mark of 0%. There is no longer any sliding scale of late penalties. However, if you miss a deadline it is still worth submitting a piece of coursework late for a zero mark so that you do not automatically lose any re-sit opportunity. In September 2011 the University launched a new coursework assignment handling system, designed to ensure that accurate submission records are maintained. From September, you will be able to access a new assessment area in SOLAR, NOVA, to obtain details of submissions for the entire year. Instead of completing an Assignment Submission & Declaration Form, you will need to print off a pre-completed coversheet, containing programme and submission details. This will be available for you two weeks before you need to hand-in your assignment. For group submissions, a group leader and group member coversheet will be available. On-line submissions will be submitted through the normal process, detailed in your module guide.
Please note that the Faculty will keep uncollected coursework until 30th November 2013. If you have not collected your assignments by this date, these will be destroyed.

The electronic version of your assignment may be used to enable checks to be made using anti-plagiarism software and approved plagiarism checking websites.
Any penalties for not complying with word limits will be in accordance with University and Faculty policy.
Return of Marked Work
Marked work will be returned in class. You can expect to have marked work returned to you by 2 weeks after the submission

• Critically articulate the effect of employee reward discrimination on the success or failure of expatriates entering international/cross-cultural situations.
• Analyse and evaluate management of international reward practice in both West and non-Western contemporary work situations, coming to critically argued conclusions and recommendations.
