Social Change Custom Essay

Final Project
Research Study Proposal
In this course, you have demonstrated your knowledge of key concepts by completing a research proposal, which is your Final Project for the course. You have worked step-by-step on various elements of the project throughout the course. This week, you will complete two final pieces of the proposal and then combine all of these elements and submit your completed research study proposal.
To prepare for this Application:
• Review the results and feedback from your Application assignments in Weeks 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10.

• Review the Final Project Description handout in the Week 1 Learning Resources.

The assignment:
Submit by Day 7 your research study proposal according to the guidelines outlined in the Final Project Description handout.
Your completed proposal should include each of the following elements you completed in previous weeks:
• Introduction, problem statement, and purpose of the study (Week 1)

• Review of literature (Week 9)

• Research questions (Week 2)

• Theoretical framework (Week 7)

• Procedure, including design (Week 2) and sampling strategy (Week 10)
In addition, your final proposal should include two elements that you will create this week:

Social change implications. In 2 or 3 paragraphs, explain the possible implications that the results of your study may have on researchers, practitioners, and social change. See the Final Project Description handout for further information.

Instrumentation
In this section of your paper you need to describe any instruments, surveys, and demographic information questionnaires that you may use. Instruments are established tools for measuring some type of construct. Surveys are questions that you create in order to collect data used to answer your research question—in Quantitative studies these are generally close ended questions and often use Likert scales. Demographic information questionnaires are used to collect independent variable information such as gender, age, religion, education level, socioeconomic status, etc. You need to have justifications for using any Instruments that show that the Instrument is related to what you are studying. In this section you also need to talk about how you will establish reliability and validity.
Data Collection Procedure
How are you going to collect your data? In this section you want to talk about how you will contact your sample, what tools you will use to collect your data (including method for administering any instruments), how you will follow up with your sample, how you will store the data, etc.
Ethical Considerations
Ethical considerations include things such as if a protected class of individuals (prisoners, children, indivdiuals with cognitive delays, etc.) will be included in your sample. Other ethical considerations include how you will handle any biases in your attitudes about the topic or the data collection tools that you will use.
Potential Significance of the Study
This is the social change element of your study. Dissertations generally don’t end up having results that will change the world. How can you apply the results of your study to start to change the problem that you talked about in your problem statement? How can you eventually share the information you will glean from your study with those that can make social change occur?
Limitations of Study
What are some anticipated limitations of your study? This can include things like not having access to many participants to potential issues with technology that could impact your sample. This is a good way to plan for things that could derail your research.

Advocacy: described a program design, created a budget and proposed ways of financing it, and outlined an evaluation plan Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

In the previous weeks in this course, you have described a program design, created a budget and proposed ways of financing it, and outlined an evaluation plan. In this final Discussion you will share your ideas on how to advocate effectively on behalf of this hypothetical program. As you do, keep in mind the differences between advocacy and lobbying, as described in the article "Advocacy 101."
Advocacy is an important skill in public health work. There are many ways to advocate for a public health issue and many different individuals or groups to whom you could turn in order to shape policies impacting it. For example, if you wish to advocate for policies to lower childhood obesity rates, you might approach your state legislator to educate him or her about a proposed health issue or intervention. You might address a neighborhood group to get new playground equipment, or turn to a parent organization to gain support for an educational program at school. You might approach a newspaper or editorial board to publish an article advocating for your cause, or a professional association to encourage them to make this a greater focus in their own activities. You might even help to organize others in the community such as parent groups, in their own advocacy efforts such as letter-writing campaigns.
• To prepare for this Discussion, review these Learning Resources:
Advocacy
• Research America: Advocacy Resources
http://www.researchamerica.org/advocacy Research America is a leading advocacy organization dedicated to advocating for research on health issues. This Web page provides guidelines on key steps in the advocacy process, such as conveying your message succinctly and getting and using public opinion poll data.
• APHA: Advocacy
http://www.apha.org/advocacy/activities/

This Web page on the APHA site provides a number of resources relating to advocacy in public health, including advocacy tips and policy statements. The "Advocacy Activities" page includes updates on important federal and state legislative activity.

Marketing
• Turning Point
http://www.turningpointprogram.org/

This Web site of the Turning Point project has numerous documents on social marketing.
• CDC: Health Marketing

The following resources from the CDC describe health marketing strategies and provide many examples of health campaigns.
• What is Health Marketing?
http://cdc.gov/healthcommunication/ToolsTemplates/WhatIsHM.html
• A Traditional Marketing Example
http://www.cdc.gov/healthcommunication/ToolsTemplates/Basics.html#traditional
• Current Health Campaigns at CDC

• Consider how you might best gain the support you need for this program and who you would approach.

INTERNET PIONEER PAPER Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

J.C. R. Licklider. We think we know the people behind the digital revolution, but in reality, we know the people standing on the shoulders of those who created the digital revolution.

For this paper you will be assigned a digital revolutionary and will write a three page biography of this person, J.C. R. Licklider. Your assignment must include the following:

1. Basic biography of where born, schools attended, places worked.
2. Main claim to digital fame. Although most digital pioneers were doing many amazing things, and you can certainly mention them, each person you are assigned has one major claim to fame.
3. A lay person’s explanation of this claim to fame. As you will find, most of the pioneers were Ph.D.s who worked on topics that are complicated. Your job is to put what was accomplished in lay terms for the average person to understand.
4. How this achievement has contributed to digital media today.

You need a minimum of three sources. This paper should be done in MLA style with a Works Cited (not Bibliography or References) and proper in-text citation. You may NOT use Wikipedia. This is not a cut-and-paste job. You should do careful research and write this in your own words referencing your sources.

The grade for this paper will encompass not just the content, but the way the paper was written and the sources used.

Scholarly PaperGuide: Florence Nightingale was a forward-thinking woman, a nurse pioneer and a true leader who was ahead of her time Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Scholarly PaperGuide: Florence Nightingale was a forward-thinking woman, a nurse pioneer and a true leader who was ahead of her time. Her Environmental Theory, although developed over 100 years ago, is still relevant today. Many public health problems could be avoided by application of her theory; many health promotion programs developed by nurses are based on application of her theory.

When writing your paper, do the following:

? Make sure your introduction states how Nightingale?s theory is related to your topic.
? Include a clearly stated thesis statement toward the beginning of your paper (usually just after your introduction) which states your position on the issue. (We will practice this in class)
? Use your writing throughout your paper to support this position. Make sure you also have a conclusion which summarizes your main points.

? Use Nightingale?s original workNotes on Nursing as your main resource when discussing her theory.Your job is to discuss/analyze your environmental issue through the lens of Nightingale and to apply Nightingale?s theory very specifically to the issue using specific examples from Notes on Nursing. (Note: None of the situations below have simple solutions; this is understood by the professor.)

? Use a minimum of 4 peer-reviewed, scholarly journal articles, 2 of which should be from NURSING journals, to elaborate on the issue and support your argument. Also use other high-quality, credible sources i.e. WHO, Health Canada, RNAO, CNO.

? Adhere to APA format (6th edition) for title page, page numbering, spacing, margins, headings, font type and size, quotes, citations, reference page, and organization of essay.
? Use MINIMAL QUOTES. Put your argument in your own words and make sure you synthesize and apply the information you are getting from the literature to the points you are trying to make.
? Ensure correct spelling, sentence structure, grammar, verb tense, and punctuation. (See resources, Seneca libraries website.) Use commas correctly to enhance understanding. Write in complete sentences. Use transitions to move from one paragraph to the next. Use paragraphs to organize your writing and address one main idea in each paragraph.
? Edit your work, read it out loud, and have a peer review your work. Go to Seneca Learning Centre (in library) for help if writing is a challenge for you.
? Write 5 pages maximum, not including title page or reference page.
? Use the rubric posted on BB to ensure you are adhering to assignment requirements.
? Submit via SafeAssign by 8:05 AM on Monday, March 10 if you are in section BB and on Friday, March 14 if you are in section AA. Also submit hard copy in class to Nancy on your due date.
? See NUR 102 Course Outline for more details regarding this assignment.
TOPIC:
Clostridium difficile (C. diff.) is a bacterial pathogen that can cause a severe, debilitating infection. It is one of the most serious causes of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and infections from C. diff. are most common in hospitalized patients. Through the lens of Nightingale?s theory, discuss C. diff transmission and how nurses can help prevent it.
