The roles of the main female and male characters in various ages that we have explored in this course, from The Epic of Gilgamesh and Chinese poetry, through William Shakespeare??s Hamlet, Fredrick Douglass?? Narrative of Fredrick Douglass by Himself, to Chinua Achebe??s Things Fall Apart, and how this course relates to your major.
This paper is divided into three parts: the Annotated Bibliography, Formal Outline that includes a thesis statement, summaries of the literary works, and quotes (in-text citation), from the five literary works and literary criticism (outside sources), the documentation of a list of works cited on a Works Cited page, and the research paper.

Nearly every literary work implicates gender roles of some sort in a society with which the literary artist (writer) is familiar. This assumption does not spare The Epic of Gilgamesh and a Chinese poem, Shakespeare??s Hamlet, Douglass?? Narrative of Fredrick Douglass by Himself, Achebe??s Things Fall Apart, whose literary works we have discussed in this course. For this assignment, you are required to write a six-page paper in which you critically analyze the parallels among the roles of the main female and male characters in these five literary works and how this course relates to your major.
Guidelines:
Before you start writing this paper:

– Brainstorm thoroughly before writing the Formal Outline;
– Use the Brainstormed ideas to write the Formal Outline;
– Use the Formal Outline to construct the paper;

– Use MLA style consistently for paper formatting, in-text citation, and
documentation.

– Introduce each paraphrase and quote clearly;
– Explain each quote before introducing another one;
– Avoid using the 1st and 2nd personal pronouns;
