This is a VERY important paper. It is my take home final exam and I NEED an A. I will attach a bunch of information but basically this paper is going to analyze a video clip (which I will attach) and apply the video to different theories and writers. This is a research paper and needs to be motivated with a question and backed up by an argument. My question is: How has mass producing images changed our society. It is a research paper but three of the sources will be three essays that we have discussed in full in class and I will attach them. I will also attach the assignment. The three pieces of writing we have read in class have different theories and notions that apply to media and culture. I chose a video clip of a model talking about how mass producing images has changed her life. The three writers that are going to be analyzed are Benjamin, Hall and Adorno. Hall talks about decoding and encoding as well as semiotics and its important to apply those concepts to the video clip. Adorno talks about loosing a sense of identity and aura when mechanically producing images and Benjamin talks about pretty similar ideas. I will attach Adorno Benjamin and Hall’s essays. Please read them so you can apply their ideas to the video. I also did an in class presentation of this and this is the link of a prezi presentation I did about it to help you.
