Brand Advertising Case Study: Look at 20+ ads from the same company, and systematically analyse
how these ads have changed over the years. Make use of theory from at least 5-7 articles and/or books.
Here are some brand examples where there are many ads available (use Google Images or YouTube to
search):
i. Coca-Cola
ii. Pepsi
iii. McDonald’s
iv. Maxwell House coffee
v. Marlboro cigarettes
vi. Lucky Strike cigarettes
vii. Budweiser beer
LENGTH: The project must be a minimum of 5 pages of single-spaced text, and a maximum of 15
pages including exhibits and Table of Contents.
• The report must be typewritten and single-spaced with 1″ margins, using 12-point font.
• Leave an extra line between every paragraph, as well as before and after every heading.
• Your written project must include a Table of Contents.
• Pages must be numbered.
• Your written project should be carefully proofread and edited.
• Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are worth 20% of the grade on this report, and 1% is deducted for
each error.
• If you copy more than 5 words in a row from any source (including the internet), you must enclose the
passage in quotation marks and clearly document the source of the quotation in an endnote. If you use
a phrase, sentence, or paragraph that is not your own without enclosing it in quotation marks, this will
be considered plagiarism, and will result in an automatic grade of zero for the project.
• When you consult and refer to any outside sources on the internet, in books or periodicals, or from any
other source, you must document these sources in a set of endnotes. This is particularly important if
you mention facts or figures from any source. Failure to do so is considered to be plagiarism.
• Your endnotes should follow the Vancouver format or another accepted formal (MLA, Chicago, APA).
It is not important which format you choose for your endnotes, but it is important that you use the same
format consistently. In MS Word you access endnotes by clicking on REFERENCES, then click on
INSERT ENDNOTE – then enter the information for your citation. See the following website for
information on using the Vancouver format:
