Your first job is to come up with functional definition of your major. The focus will be different depending on the audience, but you primary need to cover: concise denotative definition, a sense of connotative definitions a historical overview, an accounting of important figures in the field, and overview of jobs/careers related to the field, current issues/controversies within the field, and the fields relevance moving forward.
Your group is still exploring who is the specific audience for the fair will be, so you have been tasked with coming up with the language stable to a variety of people. In either a single memo or a series of memos create the following:
1. A definition paragraph(s) suitably broad enough to work with multiple audiences. In other words, don’t confuse sixth-graders and patronize adults.
2. A definition paragraph(s) aimed at elementary aged children, probably 2nd-4th graders or so.
3. A definition paragraph(s) for graduate/ professionals looking to change careers.
Between the three paragraphs, you have around 1000 words of space. Use them however you would like in terms of distribution, but make sure audience can make sense of your memo.
