Understanding (40%)
The assignment should show your understanding of the practical side of project management. Don�t worry too much about if there is a difference be a project plan and an project management plans � the terms tend to be used interchangeably. Think about what needs to be managed in a project and design a plan to follow.
Obviously you need something that says what the project is about and what it is meant to produce (aim and objectives). The key things that need looking after are the time allowed for the project, so there needs to be a schedule; the cost, so there needs to be a budget; and risk, so you need a risk assessment. Other things that may be important depending on the size and nature of the project are stakeholders (perhaps a map and a communication plan), resources (people needed to work on the project, technical equipment) and governance (committee and reporting arrangements). More technical projects will need information on contracting and procurement. You will also need some way of working out how your project went (evaluation).
There is no set format for these things � lots of organisations work out their own. The Tasmanian Government web site has plenty of templates and here are a couple of links to real plans and one to another site that has a range of templates for larger projects.
