There may be links to both HTML and .pdf versions of the articles (.pdf versions are better because they provide the page numbers required for referencing direct quotes). Having read each of the articles and having had access to several chapters in the text about social stratification, select one of the following statements as the basis of your short essay:

3. Social stratification permeates personal life.
You are to produce an essay of 1,500 words with a clear and robust argument. Your argument will become informed through reading in the field of knowledge within which this idea is located. It is imperative that you are explicit about the time and place you are referring to in your essay AND that you clearly indicate the system of social stratification that you are focusing on.
