Diversity and Ethical Codes: Psychologists are expected to provide services to culturally diverse clients ethically. It is essential that psychologists are culturally sensitive. This is not only a best practice but is also mandated by ethical codes such as that of the American Psychological Association. Yet, ethical codes for psychologists have themselves been brought into question for their cultural sensitivity.
In a 3-4 page paper (excluding references and title page), discuss the following: Addressing one or more existing ethical codes, discuss the limitations of this code or these codes for multicultural professional practice. In what ways do you believe the APA Ethical Principles for Psychologists and Code of Conduct are culturally biased and culturally encapsulated? What evidence is there that this code is culturally sensitive? If you believe there is no evidence the code is culturally sensitive, what evidence is there that the code is not culturally sensitive? Discuss the importance of cultural sensitivity and explain what you believe are the implications for ethical professional practice. In addition to the required readings, cite at least two additional references.
