First student noted:
Unhappiness has the potential to yield many other problems that could take a long time to resolve.

Second student observed:
When an employee is unhappy they do not give their best effort and will begin to infest their co-workers with their negativity.

Third student noted:
Unhappiness is a cause for concern in all aspects of life.

Last student noted:
There is an old saying that negativity breeds negativity, and once negativity has infected a group of people it is difficult, but not impossible, to regain the once positive atmosphere.

It occurred to me in our discussion about unhappy employees, we have an example of a failure to accurately assess an employee’s actions. One of the major new events in 2010 was the shootings at Ft. Hood, a US Army base.

Whitlock (2010), in his article noted “A Pentagon review of the Fort Hood shootings has found that several officers failed to intervene in the career of the suspect, despite widespread signs of his religious radicalization and his shortcomings as a soldier” (para. 1). “Gates said the military needed to be alert to perceived signs of danger and deal with them ‘openly and honestly.’ ‘Failure to do so, or kicking the problem to the next unit or the next installation, may lead to damaging — if not devastating — consequences,’ he added” (2010, para 8).
