1. Students will: a) choose a topic of interest related to computers and information technology, b) post their topic in the subject line and write a paragraph describing the focus on their research to the Discussion Board in Blackboard.
Begin by narrowing and refining the topic. Several students may choose the same broad topic but each will narrow the topic to his/her point of interest. Students are responsible for monitoring the Discussion Board in order to know what topics have been selected. A list of possible broad topics is listed below. Students are encouraged to choose a topic outside the list of suggested topics. Consult your instructor for final topic approval.
2. Students will research and write a multi-level topical outline using MS Word with a minimum of 3 primary sources excluding the course textbooks. Although Wikipedia can be a place to explore topics, it is not considered a reliable sources and IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE PRIMARY SOURCE. See the reference list below for instructions on how to write a multi-level topical outline.
3. Students will submit a rough draft of their report. The body of the report will be 5-7 pages and follow the MLA style guide. At this point the rough should be spell checked and grammar checked. Print out your paper and have a friend, classmate, upper classmen PROOFREAD your paper. Incorporate these changes to your paper. Schedule an appointment with the ERAU Writing Center to review your paper, if needed. Your instructor will be reading for content only. Included in the rough draft will be:
? title page,
? table of contents,
? headings (level 1 and 2, minimum)
? work cited and citations,
? bibliography, and
? headers and/or footers
4. Student will finalize the report and add tables, charts, and graphics. The charts and tables must be object linked from Excel. See the requirements list below.
5. The final week of class students will present a 5-7 minute presentation about the main points of their research. The PowerPoint presentations will include charts and images from the paper and the Excel charts will be object linked.
REQUIREMENTS:
Microsoft Office 2010 is required for this project. The body of the report will be 5-7 pages in length (no less than 5 full pages and no more than 7 full pages). This excludes, the title page, table of contents, appendix, and bibliography. Your report will be supported by a minimum of 3 relevant, primary sources, not including your online textbook. Citations available from the World Wide Web must be hyperlinked. Student will use MLA style guide. The report will include:
