Objective: To demonstrate that student understands one specific health behavior theory and is able to describe the use of that theory when researching a community health intervention.
Instructions:
1. Prepare a four-five page double-spaced paper using 12 pt font.
2. Discuss one particular theory in detail. Describe how the theory works and list its pros and cons.
3. Pretending that you are community health researcher or a health promotion specialist, discuss how you would use the theory to help you with a health intervention.
For example, if you chose a Health Belief Model (HBM), you would-
1. Describe the components of the Health Belief Model;
2. Discuss the pros and cons of the Health Belief Model;
3. Decide upon a �target� population;
4. Decide upon a health issue;
5. Describe how the Health Belief Model would help you with that health issue in that population.
Example:
Use the HBM to find out how individuals/students feel about sunscreen use. Describe questions you might ask of the students to determine how they feel about preventing skin cancer (and using sunscreen).
Other:
1. Use American Psychological Association referencing for any references;
2. Please add at least one reference to your paper other than the two required reading resources (text, Theory-at-a-Glance); extra references are appreciated; Wikipedia is not a valid reference.
