Is homegrown terrorism a significant threat to the United States? How would we know (that is, what would constitute evidence that this is a significant threat)? How can the US government best counter homegrown terrorism?
In the readings I discovered that terrorism is not and won’t become an act of the past. After further evaluation, I do feel that the United States is poised to face a new wave or form of terrorism. This world is made of many people separating us by individuality, culture, religion, race, sex, and creativity. In opinion, this will always result to ongoing events. While America really doesn’t focus on prevention, but solely on intervention it allows the things that separate us as people to always have the upper hand. Religion has a strong impact on our lives, and individuality allows us to take religion into their own perception. Creativity brings out one’s competitiveness while we are focusing on preventing attacks such as 9/11 prevention’s should also be put in place for things such as mass bombing and cyber terrorism. Being that they are going to become more creative using not only our technology, but our sense of unpreparedness against us. The US has the forces to take on and defeat any problems that may occur. I feel the focus need to become more on prevention under all aspects and not just focus on the intervention and prevention of just one.
In opinion, I feel domestic terrorism will be the highest threat to the United States. Being the United States never focus on the things that are right in front of them. The United States is always about cutting budgets; however, the cuts always seem to be taken from the wrong place. Instead of putting money in the right places such as deploying illegal immigrants, keeping our schools safe, and preventing immigrants from migrating to the United States so easily they are pouring it into the 1%. I feel that the United States is its biggest threat, being that home grown terrorism is something that is reoccurring and not being resolved. Which allows terrorists imposing as an eagerness to become and/or are already United States citizens to have the upper hand. I feel that the United States should have a more stricter approach for allowing in immigrants can help prevent some issues we face today.
Domestically we fall short, a school Bully gets publicity by the hostile environment he creates and this causes some students to alter their own behaviors to avoid encountering the Bully. Finally, once expelled from school, a big sigh of relief occurs by students who felt threatened. Does the Bully grow to become a homegrown terrorist, is he disgruntled or does he become criminal or insane? Terrorism events gain media attention causing a ripple effect of global fear. Acts of terrorism continue to plaque local towns and cities across America and throughout the world. In the absence of an overarching preparedness policy and the lack of public readiness, every front door across the country becomes a target for terror. Small and numerous inoculant strikes coupled-up with cyber related events or the tiniest of strikes likes bugs gnawing at the edges of critical infrastructures.
