Advocacy Proposal
Before drafting your Advocacy Essay, you will write a proposal that introduces the solution you wish
to advocate (the best solution possible to solve the problem you’ve been researching). Your
performance on this assignment will be graded as part of the Advocacy Essay grade. Your instructor
will "green light" all viable solutions, and may require revisions to Advocacy Proposal that
advocate solutions do not fit the problem, are too old, or are no longer viable options (e.g., bills
"dead" in committee, technological solutions that are obsolete, etc.).
In this brief (1 to 2 page) proposal, identify and explain:
The solution you wish to advocate. Explain who crafted the solution, when it was
introduced/invented/proposed, and where in this solution is in terms of its development.
Why this solution is the best solution to the problem you’ve identified. (This is, in other words, your
thesis statement for this argument and, as such, should explain the reasons this solution is the best,
not merely a statement of what the solution will do.)
One source that supports the solution you advocate.
One source that either challenges your solution directly, or that offers an alternate solution.
Your Advocacy Proposal should include a Works Cited.
